Those with reduced mobility can now comfortably explore parts of Cleeve Common by booking our Countryside Mobility all-terrain scooter – the Tramper.

What is a Tramper?

A Tramper is an electric all-terrain mobility scooter designed specifically to cover rough ground and grass safely. It can go up and down slopes, over bumps and tree roots, through shallow puddles and across mud and soft ground.

With a top speed of four miles an hour it can keep pace with walking companions.

The scooter is easy to use (so don’t worry if you’ve never used a mobility scooter before), and offers the chance to enjoy the range of stunning views on a specially created Tramper route (scroll down to find out more).

Who can use the Tramper?

The Tramper can be used by anyone aged 14+ with reduced mobility and is a member of Countryside Mobility.

Don’t worry if you’ve never used a mobility scooter before – many users are first timers but find that in the countryside this can enable them to explore with friends and family. If you’re unsure read more here.

If you aren’t a member, don’t worry, you can sign up to the programme when you book. Once you have joined and received a short introduction to the Tramper, you will be insured to use Trampers across the Countryside Mobility network of 60+ beauty spots and outdoor attractions predominantly in South West England – including these in Gloucestershire. You can also receive a complimentary 2 week membership of their ‘sister’ charity, Outdoor Mobility, if you visit the North of England.

The Tramper Route

Here on Cleeve Common, with the help of local people with lived-experience of using wheels, we have developed at Tramper Trail. This is a 2 mile long ‘tadpole’ shaped route which takes in several view points. It can be shortened very easily into a shorter circle. The route has been fully risk assessed and audited.

There are four benches at key locations around the route. You will cross a mix of short grass and Cotswold stone track as you complete the route. There are some cambers, slopes and uneven ground. All well within the capabilities of the Tramper.
